EURES (EURopean Employment Services) is a cooperation network between the European Commission and the public employment services of the Member States of the European Economic Area, which aims to inform, guide, and advise, among others, job seekers or employees wishing to work in another European country.
The basic principle of free movement of workers within the European Union means that you may find a job in any country within the EU, as well as in Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein (EEA countries), and Switzerland.
There are many advantages to working abroad, such as:
- the acquisition of new professional and personal skills and gaining confidence and communication skills;
- the discovery of new cultures and employment opportunities by broadening your cultural horizon and improving your language skills;
- choose either a permanent, temporary or seasonal job.
The EURES portal does not only provide information on job vacancies throughout Europe but also an analysis of the labor market of all countries and regions, as well as practical information on living and working conditions in Europe along with an online database where you can submit your CV.

EURES Luxembourg participates in the European programm "Your first EURES Job" that aims at encouraging worker mobility in Europe.
"Your first EURES Job" is a support programme for young people between the age of 18 and 35, who are nationals of one of the European Union countries and residing in one of these and looking for work in a country other than their country of residence. The assistance covers, among other things, the partially payment of travel expenses, language courses and recognition of diplomas. The paid employment offered under this project lasts at least 6 months. Companies with fewer than 250 employees are required to present an integration programme for the young employee and can benefit from financial assistance for basic training or language courses for young candidates.
